Forest School through Heritage in Schools

If you are a school you can book in for a 6 series session of Forest School with Siobhán and another Forest School Leader on the Heritage in Schools panel.

The Heritage Council will offer a series of six sessions at reduced rates where the school pays the normal school rate for one specialist (instead of two) and the Heritage Council pays the balance.

Schools may apply through the Heritage in Schools website heritageinschools.ie after they have made preliminary arrangements with Forest School Leaders/Heritage in Schools Specialists and can comply with certain conditions.

Wonder through Trees

Bringing natural items into your school to share knowledge about and for curiosity and interest. We explore nature around your school through nature journalling where we can identify and use our imagination.

Biodiversity Education:

  • Natural resources presented for child-led creative engagement with arts and crafts.
  • Activities to spark imagination and connection to nature for creative writing.
  • Wild clay and foraged items for form and print. Minerals to grind for paint making.
  • Wool for sensory play and activities to flex fine motor skills.
  • Prompts to encourage creative engagement and nature awareness.
  • Animal themed and sensory games.

These sessions would also suit Special Ed classes and infants due to their sensory tactile nature and child-led exploration.

Wild Art and Forest School based activities:

Siobhàn is also a Pushkin Trust facilitator which you can read more about through the pushkin website

If you book 5-6 of these sessions of any of the above half day/full day workshops, the Heritage in schools will provide one extra session for free.

‘Siobhán engaged the children very well and taught them good strategies for recognising the types of trees in their environment. Writing with the tree ink was a big bonus!’

‘We were absolutely delighted to welcome Siobhan to our school for a day full of learning and discovery! As one of the first schools she visited in her new role as a Heritage in Schools Specialist, we were eager to learn about native trees and vegetables with her expertise and enthusiasm. Siobhan brought a wealth of knowledge to the classroom, especially when it came to native trees, their branches, and their many uses.

Her passion for nature and the environment was contagious, and it was clear that every student felt inspired and engaged throughout the day. Siobhan was not only knowledgeable but also so warm and friendly. She created an atmosphere where all the students felt comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas.
